Transport-Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis: Evidence From Belt and Road

چکیده

The conundrum of how to balance economic growth with transportation carbon abatement has never been more vital for the Belt and Road countries. This study analyzes Transport-Environmental Kuznets Curve nexus explores heterogeneity using fixed-effect estimation panel data from 1981 2020 in 64 findings indicate that there is an N-shaped between transport emissions growth. environmental rebound effects some countries are solidified different perspectives show a diamond-shaped lock-in feature. Moreover, most still “climbing” stage struggling reconcile reducing emissions. These conclusions have constructive policy implications at various stages “climbing,”“nearing or crossing top,”“heading downhill,” “rebounding” advance green transformation strategy.

Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis: A Survey

The Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis postulates an inverted-U-shaped relationship between different pollutants and per capita income, i.e., environmental pressure increases up to a certain level as income goes up; after that, it decreases. An EKC actually reveals how a technically specified measurement of environmental quality changes as the fortunes of a country change. A sizeable ...

Environmental Kuznets Curve

cointegration Classical regression analysis assumes that the error term in a regression is normally and independently distributed. An extreme violation of this condition is when the error term is a random walk. Such a regression is termed a spurious regression and the results are not reliable. It usually indicates that a required variable with random walk behavior has been omitted from the mode...

The Environmental Kuznets Curve:

1. Introduction The environmental Kuznets curve is a hypothesized relationship between various indicators of environmental degradation and income per capita. In the early stages of economic growth degradation and pollution increase, but beyond some level of income per capita (which will vary for different indicators) the trend reverses, so that at high-income levels economic growth leads to env...

Delinking Economic Growth from Environmental Degradation? a Literature Survey on the Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis

The effect of economic growth on environmental quality is much under dispute. A number of empirical studies have made the claim that there exist in some income ranges a positive relation between per capita income and some measure of environmental quality. According to this inverted U-shaped pattern of different pollutants relative to per capita incomes in different countries which is also calle...

Urban Transport Pollution: Revisiting the Environmental Kuznets Curve

An inverted-U relationship between GDP per capita and three urban transport-related emissions is tested (using data from 84 cities). Per capita urban transport-related emissions of CO, VHC, and NOx increase and then decline at observed income levels—a result driven by a similar inverted-U relationship between income and emissions technology (i.e., emissions per passengerkm). However, for urban ...
